I’m so glad it’s October
The anticipation of October’s beginning holds a great deal of nostalgia for me. It’s all excitement and anticipation. Fall sweeps in with a light breeze, there is just a hint of chill in the air and dusk brings some of the most majestic sunsets of the year. Each night the sky is lit on fire while the last warmth of summer fades into the seasons. And the oceans blue is a touch deeper and even more soulful. Truly October has magic in it.
Ever since I was a little girl this month has represented warmth, love, and joy. My parents celebrate their wedding anniversary (year thirty-six!), my husband and I celebrate our own wedding anniversary, and towards the end of the month my father and I get to celebrate our shared Birthday. Not to mention the many festivities in between and the greatness of Halloween. Growing up we would throw a big themed Halloween block party. We would all dress up in costume and have an early dinner at my parents, dance around to the jukebox and play games before heading out to go trick or treating. Throughout the month I think of nights spent running around on the soccer field, days spent at the empty beaches and meaningful time with family. These traditions have continued on with our family, evenings coaching Tom’s soccer team, quick trips to the beach after school, walking the neighborhood before dinner and school carnivals. It has all come full circle and ever day I feel so lucky.
While on our walk with the kids this past Saturday I was inspired by the setting sun. The glow in the sky and deep blue of the ocean. Inspired by one of my favorite quotes in Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery, I created a desktop to share.
I hope this October brings you as much love as it has for my family and I.
