Family Beach Photoshoot with Marielena Photography

Excited to be sharing a little family beach photoshoot magic with all of you today. We aren’t the family that plans Holiday photos. We aren’t even the family who regularly gets all 5 of us together in one photo. Not that I haven’t spent years pinning beautiful family photos. I just haven’t had prioritized an actual shoot.

I also prefer being behind the camera usually. Most of my Instagram posts are the world from my perspective, so you don’t see a whole lot of me.

When our dear friend, Marielena Photography reached out to take some Holiday family photographs I thought it would be a great opportunity to try something new. Knowing how wonderful she is with kids put me at ease because my littles are not the type to stand still for any amount of time. I am sure many of you know exactly what I mean.

We knew we wanted to do a simple beach shoot, grabbing some of that golden hour magic. We were able to take the pictures down at West St. A place so special and full of memories for our family. Having these images of all of us at a place we hold so close is something I truly treasure.

I had talked with the kids before going down about keeping close and trying to be good listeners. Keeping in mind that they would be in their element at the beach want to play. They are kids and need that freedom. So we got about 5 minutes in before Henry took off down the beach. Even though that meant most of the shoot was going to be us moving about, Mari was able to capture all of our fun in some candid shots.

You guys, my heart is exploding. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have this image. It’s one I will cherish forever.

Our beach trips are never complete without searching for sea glass.

I just cannot tell you how lovely these images are. I love that they are such a true representation of us all. We roam, we wander, we are rarely still, but we are always happiest together. Thank you Mari for the beauty you created in capturing our family.

Home Living with Veyali + A Giveaway

Nesting has always been one of my favorite hobbies. I tend to be a homebody so I love little details that make our space, our ‘home’. I recently discovered Veyali room and linen sprays through their founder, Gina. These all natural, 100% botanical sprays are created by combining natural ingredients with the purpose of enhancing your home life.

In their words

Made with measured magic and botanical science, Veyali reimagines the ancient artistry of parfumerie. Every scent has a story and a purpose, a whisper of nature that evokes the sweetest of memories. Without leaving you lost in a chemical haze or with a residue of regret. Our perfumes are hand-blended in expertly-curated small batches for optimal freshness and quality.

Just that description moves me. It’s romantic and whimsical, exactly what you would want in something labeled botanical collection.

When Gina reached out to send me some samples of her room sprays I jumped at the opportunity. Incorporating all natural scents into our home has been a great change for our household. I’ve been working towards chemicals and carcinogens from things like Fabreeze and candles with harmful ingredients. This has helped us with allergies and asthma sensitives, while giving me peace of mind about the products I use around myself and my family.

Veyali has four room/ linen sprays

Awaken: Eucalyptus + Palma Rosa, a refreshing blend to uplift spirits, energize, and ease fatigue.

Ground: Black Spruce + Frankincense, a comforting blend to slow and deepen the breath, calm the nerves, and relieve stress.

Purify: Palo Santo + Cypress, a blend of sacred woods to energetically cleanse, restore balance, and calm the mind.

Uplift: Lemongrass + Basil, an herbaceous blend to promote mental clarity, relieve exhaustion, and ease nervous tension.

Gina graciously sent me samples of each to try out in our home. The Ground and Awaken scents really resonated with me. My favorite time to use Awaken is in the morning after I’ve showered and made our bed. Throughout the day when you walk around the house the scent lingers and keeps things fresh. The Ground scent is wonderful to spray after folding some laundry or right before I cook dinner so when we get in bed, the room feels coz you and helps us to unwind.

I love the idea of having these on hand for hostess gifts and birthday or Christmas gifts for friends. They  or only smell amazing, have benefits to using in your household, but they are in beautiful custom made 8oz UV protected glass bottles with trigger sprayers. These bottles look beautiful on a dresser in a book shelf. You won’t need to hid them away in your linen closet.

I have loved incorporating these scents into our home.

Let me introduce you to Kate Zimmerman Turpin’s beautifully design Hunt House in Texas.

Images of this rustic historically inspired home have been making the rounds lately, and with good reason. This rustic, European and Spanish inspired home is absolutely stunning. From open shelving and built-ins to simple forms in the architecture, the whole space is a dream.

When design stays true to it’s natural surrounding I am always left feeling so inspired and fulfilled. In a time where home design can seem so cookie cutter, it’s amazing to see homes built from the outside in.

This entire home is full of references to historical styles and combining with the exterior landscape.

Each detail really helps to bring the house together. Thick white walls, warm wood details, it’s all so beautifully pieced together.

The living room is by far my favorite space. The custom built-in shelving is at the top of my dream home list.

We had a quick weekend away in Pioneer Town for a family friend’s wedding this past Spring. We had booked a beautiful ranch for the evening for all our group including our family, my parents, along with my sister and her husband. I have only spent a limited amount of time in Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree, but it’s always been on our to visit list. Oddly enough while planning for the weekend I had this thought in the back of my mind of a friend whose girlfriend had purchased property out there and I had been watching their journey through social media. So it wasn’t until the night before we were planning to head up there that it hit me that we were staying at their house. It was quite the coincidence. Driving up to their beautiful ranch to see her happily working on the landscaping while their pup ran around was so heartwarming.

They have done a beautiful job putting together this vacation rental. Supplied with all the items you might need, plus games and activities, and a beautifully designed interior. We all had a blast playing Oregon Trail in the living room, horseshoe in the yard, and hiking on the property.

Walking distance to Pioneertown and a short drive to Yucca Valley, we all left with an eagerness to return. If you’re looking to visit the area, I highly recommend Old Heard Ranch. You can get in touch with Holly and see more about the listing here.

I recently stumbled upon Zara’s home sale and was impressed with some of the items they have to offer. I had checked out their tableware and linens before, but didn’t realize it went much further than that. I put together a couple of picks I’ve added to my wishlist, not that I need any need for more home decor.

I especially love those pillows and unique stoneware bowl. Definitely worth working into a clean coastal home design.
